What do you get for the man in your life that already has everything?
Angry Birds has been a hit with my man. (Thanks Jim!) Now my children are hooked as well. My mom found this tutorial for the angry red bird on Obsessively Stitching. From this tutorial I made the red bird, blue bird, and two pigs. I made up the yellow bird myself but now she has posted how to make it as well! I used felt instead of fleece, because it is what I had on hand. They turned out very well. When I stuffed them, I added a few dried beans to the bottom to help them take out those pigs! To complete the gift, I bought my husband a set of foam blocks to make the structure for the pigs to sit inside. He and the kids loved it!!
Now my dad is making suggestions for a catapult. Maybe next year! Merry Christmas to all!

This idea came to me when I was trying to decide what in the world to make for my mother (Mimi) and mother-in-law (Nana). I have always tried to make them something that is centered around the kids. Then the idea hit me to let the kids draw or paint with fabric paint / crayons and I could make a quilt out of it.

1. Cut 12 by 12 squares out with a quilter’s square.
2. Iron freezer paper to the squares (shiny side to the wrong side of the fabric).
3. Let your kids draw or paint on the fabric. Let the paint dry.
4. Iron the fabric, wrong side up (parents are to do this step, of course).
5. Sew up the quilt and free motion around their drawings in a matching thread.
I used two crib sized (45 by 60 inches) quilt batting, 100% cotton! The feel is much better than just using one. I loved it so much I had to make one for myself as well. Give it a try and make it your own!
Everyday it is the same routine. Park the car. Walk inside the house. Then I hear the infamous question, “Mom, can I play Mario Kart?”

He is quite the persistant fellow. He will continue to ask periodically until he gets his fix. Once he has played, he will cut it off and walk away. It is truely quiet humorous.
After leaving the gym, conveniently located near Hobby Lobby, I decided to do my cool down while shopping! Multi tasking!! I found on the wood aisle these cute wooden stick puppet, 12 boys and 12 girls. They were a must buy!
Having no idea what I would do with them, the idea came to me to make Mario and Luigi for my son. They turned out so cute and my son loves playing with them.

I painted Mario’s face. The rest of the puppet was painted red, including the back. Then I cut out felt overalls, hat, and accessories.
Are you allowed to use the word “accessories” when describing a man? Can you use the word “man” when describing a video game character? I digress.
I glued the felt pieces on with my high temp glue gun, they aren’t kidding about being high temp. We will leave it at that.
For the finishing touch, I cut out a felt nose and glued it on. I encourage you to give this a go. Make yourself a puppet of your child’s favorite character. Tell me about what you have made! Now watch out for that banana peel!
